I was just sitting here thinking.hmm. Some of our software requires IE 10. And we have a few workstations running Windows 10 already. And I know Microsoft put IE 11 on Windows 10. And of course, I was wondering if it was possible to uninstall IE 11 (which it is) and then successfully run IE 10, and have successful compatibility with our old IE 10 programs. Then, I thought.hmmm. I bet the folks on Spiceworks have some other interesting stories running around in their work environments with a test Windows 10 (or full deployment) going on.So guys, what's your wildest Windows 10 Backwards Compatibility Dream? Here's another one, of course, this still goes for Windows 7: Can we run a Dot Matrix (24-pin) printer?

Hehe, I mention that, because we still have a Windows XP Machine JUST TO print to a Dot Matrix, and share it on the network with Windows 7 stations, so they can all print to this amazingly ancient Dot Matrix Printer.Edited Oct 12, 2015 at 00:26 UTC. I have to keep an xp VM around just for that. I've been trying to make it work for over a year on win 7. Sun systems accounting software free.

I don't even want to try in 10.Hey CrashFF! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that the latest version of Network eManager for Strata CIX supports Windows 7 64 bit and Windows Server 2012 and IE10. We are currently addressing compatibility issue with Network eManager and Windows 10, and will provide an update soon. Hope this helps!

I successfully got the software installed but am running into a SQL issue and am wondering if you ran into any similar problems.I just spent three days on this. Here is what I found, please consider this a 'How-To' (for October 2018 anyway - what we really need is yet another updated version. 5.20BW10 is from 2016.)This version (5.20BW10) is the only version that anyone can find, including our dealer.

It is absolutely for Windows 10, and requires Win 10 1511. I did all my testing in a VMWare ESX 6.5 environment.I did try installing on Server 2012 - the install blew up every time.

Very messy.Tried on Win 10 1809 - many times. The install still does not quite resemble the instructions, and SNMP install has almost entirely moved into the UWP settings screens, so that doesn't match.

I also never saw the SQL 2012 setup screens. I could get as far as seeing 'System/Tenant Data' - but this is the only item in any menu that worked.

All others resulted in either 'page not found' on the right side, or a perpetual 'please wait.' My conclusion is that the SQL 2012 sub-install never completed.Got a copy of Win 10 1511, and re-installed it to the same VMWare machine, which allowed it to re-activate. EManager install went almost exactly the same, still no SQL2012 config screens, but I did see a 'creating database' near the end. Sure enough, after setup, it works perfectly.Removed gateway after it was done to prevent automatic updates.
